Why Do the Shock Bolt Covers Come as a 3-Piece Set Instead of 4?

Our Indian Scout Shock Bolt Covers are intentionally sold as a 3-piece set rather than 4 pieces—and it's for a very important reason.

The Exhaust Heat Problem

The Indian Scout has four rear shock mounting bolts—two on each side. However, on the stock exhaust configuration, one bolt sits dangerously close to the exhaust pipes.

The heat generated by the exhaust can:

  • Cause rubber covers to soften and deform
  • Melt the cover onto the bolt or surrounding components
  • Potentially create a safety hazard

Our Solution

Rather than sell a 4-piece set that could lead to damage or safety issues, we made the decision to offer only 3 covers—one for each "safe" bolt location away from exhaust heat.

This ensures:

  • ✅ Long-lasting performance
  • ✅ No melting or deformation
  • ✅ A clean, custom look without risk

What You'll Cover

The 3-piece set covers:

  • Both upper shock mount bolts (left and right side)
  • One lower shock mount bolt (on the side opposite the exhaust)

The fourth bolt (lower, exhaust side) is left uncovered for heat safety.

Have an aftermarket exhaust that relocates heat away from the shock bolts? See our FAQ on whether a 4th cover is available.
